Regional Summits

FLC University's Regional Summits take place at locations around the state throughout the year. Our faculty offers an array of knowledge and expertise in the courses offered and the courses have been developed in recognition of the numerous and complex issues that face our member cities.

We hope you will take advantage of these courses designed specifically to address our unique municipal needs so we can offer the very best solutions to Florida’s citizens. Join the many municipal officials and staff who are already taking advantage of these free training options!

Upcoming Regional Summits/Mini Summits

Medical Marijuana: Past, Present, Future

The medical marijuana industry in Florida has undergone dramatic changes in the last four years. Join us for a daylong learning opportunity to explore its history, peek at what we think the future holds and truly understand what options cities have today to regulate medical marijuana. Part classroom instruction, part facility tour, attendees will learn the differences between cultivation, processing and distribution facilities, plus discuss the local impact and safety concerns of each.

Attendees will also have a candid question-and-answer session with Christian Bax, former director of the Department of Health’s Office of Medical Marijuana.

Each municipality is encouraged to bring a team (elected official, manager and attorney, for example) to this exclusive opportunity to hear the latest legislative and legal information on medical marijuana facilities.

The exclusive member rate is $60, which includes lunch, transportation to and from facility, plus facility tour. (Alternate transportation is not permitted.)

Choose from four locations across the state:

Municipal Social Media

Social Media for Municipal Use (Mini Summits)

Social media can be an effective tool to inform and engage residents. However, without proper policies and planning in place, it can spell disaster. Join us for two free courses on social media designed to bolster your city’s online efforts so content is engaging while also protecting municipal interests.

Designed for elected municipal officials and staff, this course is free to Florida League of Cities members. Click below for registration information.

If your regional League is interested in hosting a summit, please contact Shwanda Barnette.
